What is the TTCSP CONNECT, COLLABORATE, COMMUNICATE Initiative?

While many of the Summits planned for the Spring of 2020 have been postponed until the late Summer or Fall (Europe Summit, North America Summit), our commitment to create and sustain a community of think tanks will continue in every region of the world and will have a new and more critical purpose starting today.

Over the last several weeks, I have heard from many think tank scholars and executives around the world who are struggling to deal with the existential crisis brought on by COVID19, its economic and social impact, the tough policy choices we are going to have to make and the operational and strategic challenges that threaten all of our institutions.

Many think tank executives have suggested that the TTCSP mobilize its global think tank network to create a digitally connected community that can share innovative policy ideas to address the new and unprecedented policy problems we face and to facilitate the sharing of strategies and best practices that will help think tanks meet the strategic and operational challenges all think tanks will face in the months ahead.

CONNECT, COMMUNICATE, COLLABORATE is the new initiative we are launching this week to help institutions have the information and support to get through this crisis while helping our citizens understand the cost and consequences of a world transformed. The experts at our institutions are uniquely qualified to be a catalyst for ideas and action. With this in mind, we urge all think tanks to develop innovative policies, programs that can empower policymakers with innovative ideas, sound policies and plans of action. This means reorganizing our research programs and developing strategies that transform our public policies and institutional priorities so policymakers and the public can make the difficult choices that we face now and will face in the future.

Share your ideas and we will curate and circulate the most thoughtful and innovative insights and ideas to the community of think tanks on our global network and with our regional partners and advisory committee members.

I firmly believe that we will overcome this invisible adversary, but we must prepare for a future where national issues become global disruptions and the increased velocity of information and policy flows will keep us constantly on our toes. We can only do this if we cross borders, party lines, disciplines and think boldly and creatively about how we can meet these new challenges together.

Let’s support one another and demonstrate to the people around the world that leadership, facts and think tanks matter now more than ever before.

Stay safe and healthy,

Jim McGann
