The Challenges and Opportunities Facing Think Tanks in Central and Eastern Europe
March 3rd, 2021 9:00-10:00am EST
Central and Eastern Europe (CEE) has endured a myriad of historical challenges and rapid evolution that has rendered it a geopolitically distinct landscape whereby the development of the think tank sector can be studied. Distinction here is understood in terms of the issues think tanks of the region have and continue to face, their unique characteristics, and the opportunities for development that lie in the operational strategies and policy recommendations they may adopt in their pursuits. The TTCSP is proud to be publishing a report that through a comprehensive literature review and data collection process, combines normative assessments of the CEE think tank landscape with historical narratives and empirically supported trends to create a more precise and refined distinction of the CEE regional think tank landscape. Key issues central to the region and every country within it are presented in individual chapters, with aggregate data and generalizations about the region at large given an isolated focus as well. At our launch event, we will be presenting a synthesized powerpoint version of key takeaways from the literature, our data, and subsequent policy recommendations. Furthermore, there will be a small panel discussion from experts at prominent CEE think tanks and a brief Q&A session with the TTCSP researchers who authored the report.
This is one in a series of workshops that will present the data, research analysis of the state on think tanks in key countries and regions of the world including but not limited to: Western Europe, Africa, Middle East and North Africa, Central and Eastern Europe, India, Vietnam, China, Portugal, Brazil, Korea and Japan.
