Think Tank Reopening Study

The Think Tanks and Civil Societies Program (TTCSP) is conducting a study to gauge how institutions around the world are handling the effects of the on-going COVID-19 pandemic and specifically how and when they plan to open their offices and resume on-site operations. The goal of this study is to provide an overview of the global response of public policy institutions to this global health crisis and to identify common trends within this response.

We hope to identify best practices for health and safety policies and procedures for employees, program participants and the essential services required to maintain safe and effective operations. With this in mind, we would like you to do two things:

1. Answer a short survey (see form below)

2. Share any policies and procedures you have developed (that may be in PDF or word format) to guide your operations once your resume on-site operations (upload link below).

Once we have collected the policies, we create a collection of best practices for think tanks so the entire community benefit from the sharing of this knowledge. All information will be treated as confidential and will not be attributed to your organization unless you give the TTCSP permission to do so.

A number of organizations have outlined a series of both general and specific health-related suggestions and protocols addressing reopening institutions during this pandemic and with your help we hope to expand upon them and develop a set of recommendations that reflect the unique conditions of the think tank community. These strategies include gauging the needs of remote and on-site operations, possible phase-based reopening and the implementation of health guidelines (such as social distancing, face coverings and temperature checks). Additional measures outlined include limiting employee travel, ensuring sick employees do not feel pressured to return to work, maintaining a hotline for voicing concerns anonymously and other methods aimed at minimizing the risk of infection while maximizing employee well-being.

As members of the global Think Tank community, we invite you to respond to this survey.

5. Share any policies and procedures you have developed (that may be in PDF or word format) to guide your operations once your resume on-site operations.

Given the time sensitive nature of this request we would like to have your input by June 20, 2020

 Thanks and all the best,

Jim McGann
